Working primarily with paint, Louise Walder focuses her attention on rediscovering the ordinary in the everyday. Her analysis of abstraction and exploration of colour captures fleeting moments, such as the shadows created through architectural spaces, highlighting textural differences between natural and manufactured structures and surfaces.
Louise record patterns and lines using the medium of photography, providing her with inspiration to employ bold mark making techniques and gesture in her paintings, delineating space and creating composition. Through her investigation of the commonplace, Louise explores how the application of chromatic juxtaposition can create a genuine emotional connection.
